PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Many doors are fun and games. That's great! How about a new type of door?
A door which permits your Users to get answers to their legal questions
whenever your BBS is available!
People hate (for good reason) getting legal advice from lawyers. They have
to take time off work, get a bill and are usually angry or scared anyhow!
This door, written by attorneys and paralegals, has the answer to all of
the most common questions which your Users have! What a great reason to
register on your board! You'll find that those Users who are interested in
their legal rights will read and review ALL of the legal material. Self-
employed persons, those with high educations and income are very aware of
their legal rights - and have disposable income to use to register
memberships with BBS systems that meet their needs!
The program presently contains helpful, straight talk answers about 49 of
the most common legal questions including:
-->BBS losses tax deductibility -->Lemon cars
-->Bankruptcy -->Copyright
-->Living trusts, wills -->Living Wills- death with dignity
-->Criminal problems, arrest -->Estate tax
-->Credit repair services -->Jury duty
-->Disputes with stock brokers -->Handling insurance claims
-->Credit card bill errors -->Bill collector harrassment
-->Buying or selling real estate -->Incorporating a business
-->Disputes with co-owners of property -->Child support
-->Home repairs/improvements -->Landlord/tenant disputes
-->Mailorder troubles -->Pre-nuptial agremeents
-->Lending money to others -->Internal Revenue Service problems
-->Selecting a good attorney -->Polygraph tests
-->Powers of attorney -->On the job injuries
We are pleased to consider any suggestions for revisions of existing
text, or, addition of new areas. Please contact one of our support
systems for more information.
We haven't forgotten the gaming part of doors either! The OnLine Legal
Advisor contains a grueling true/false legal quiz. This quiz has been
carefully prepared to surprise your Users! Many persons have
misconceptions about the legal system, and the quiz will educate and
entertain your Users!
NOTE:
^^^^
This Door is limited until registered. Your Users will be limited to
reading the first 12 articles and on 25 trivia questions. Once
registered, you will receive a registration number and instructions
in making a file called OLA.REG. This file, when present and the
proper information enclosed, will register your copy of the Door!
OLA does not expire at a certain date! Your Registration is good for
all future releases/updates!

Example Batch File
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A sample batch file is included and is similar to the following:
ECHO OFF
CD\DOORS\OLA <=- Switch to the door's Directory.
OLA OLA.CFG <=- Execute the door program and pass the
configuration filename to the program.
CD\PCB <=- Go back to PCB DIR when user exits door.
BOARD <=- Restart BBS.
This Door is multi-node compatible so you may run more than 1 node from
the same .CFG file provided the path to your system file (DORINFOx.DEF,
CALLINFO.BBS, etc) is exactly the same unless you are using environment
variables, (q.v.)
Environment Variables
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
PCBoard automatically creates the %PCBDRIVE% & %PCBDIR% environment
variables. Non-PCBoard systems may also use these variables by including
the following in either your BBS batch or AUTOEXEC.BAT
SET PCBDRIVE=C: <- Drive letter of your BBS files
SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR <- Path to your BBS files
Then in your Door .CFG file instead of putting C:\BBSDIR\DOOR.SYS, you
would put %PCBDRIVE%%PCBDIR%\DOOR.SYS. This allows you to use just one
To specify a non-standard IRQ, put the IRQ number after the .CFG on the
command line. For example:
OLA OLA.CFG /5
or using the PCBDRIVE procedure: SET IRQ=5 and use
OLA OLA.CFG /%IRQ%
This tells the program to use IRQ 5 instead of the standard IRQ.
Had reports of conflicts when using non-standard IRQ's on Novell/Netware
systems. Seems Novell also uses the / character so something went screwy
somewhere. So I added the * (asterisk) which may be used instead of the /
in case of a conflict. In other words, /%IRQ% and *%IRQ% will both work
and are interchangeable.
When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
PCBoard:
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
Wildcat!:
USERINFO.DAT in C:\WC\NODE1 - C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%
Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
SET PCBDRIVE=C:
SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
SET PCBNODE=1
Fossil Driver Support
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DoorFrame supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell your Door to use the
Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
line when running the door. For example:
MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
driver is detected, DoorFrame will print a message to that effect and exit
the door gracefully.
